Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust

Trust composed of nine individual hospitals across six separate sites.

The Trust is made up of nine individual hospitals across six separate sites and is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 20,000 and provides a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services. We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are a leading provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine. MFT has significant experience of public sector partnership working in the delivery of clinical services as well as with commercial and voluntary sector organisations. In many cases, we work as a lead provider – delivering care in a variety of settings and in different geographical locations - and in other arenas we operate as part of a supply chain arrangement with other lead partners. Across all our services we are passionate about ensuring we develop end to end pathways of care often covering community through to quaternary services. Beyond Greater Manchester, we also have significant responsibilities for providing specialist services commissioned by the NHS England Specialised Commissioning Team. Examples of national services include Heart and Lung Transplantation and ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation).
